From the moment Banks reached out about scheduling ALL of the important moments for Talbot’s first birthday, I just knew we’d be creating some magic for this sweet little girl. I’m so glad Banks agreed to my idea of shooting Talbot’s one year milestone and cake smash session at the beautiful Morning Glory Farms just outside Charlotte in Monroe, NC. Take a peek and see just how how much this girl loves her cake – and how well MGF’s secret garden vibe will fit in with her Mr. McGregor’s Garden themed birthday party happening this weekend!
There’s Nothing Sweeter Than One Year Milestone Sessions…
It was a beautiful summer morning when we arrived at Morning Glory Farm. Banks and Talbot changed into their outfits at the Gatehouse while I took a few pictures of the blooming crepe myrtles that lined the front of the property. We began the session capturing some tender motherhood images for Banks to cherish as Talbot continues to grow into a curious toddler. I completely melted when Talbot would take her mamma’s face into her hands and just soak up all that love. Next, we focused on portraits of the (almost) birthday girl to document that BIG personality for her one year mark. I loved singing “Itsy Bitsy Spider” with her and still envision her tracing the spider up the spout with her cute little fingers and the best gummy grin. Oh, and I should mention that the girl can zoom away with a crawl that’s quicker than quick!
…Except Maybe the Taste of Your First Cake Smash!
No one year milestone session is complete without at least trying a cake smash, right!? I’ve got to admit that the overwhelming majority of my one year old clients simply don’t enjoy their first taste of cake. Don’t get me wrong – they LOVE smashing that gooey goodness we call icing, but don’t you dare put it on their face or (gasp) let it get into their mouth. Que the waterworks! But as one might gather by now, Talbot is no ordinary girl. And this girl showed up just for that cake! There were sugar coated smiles and fistfuls of cake crumbles… signs of buttercream-based body paint and I think even a moment of prayer!
